Review

Delightful book. Atmospheric setting with bold characters. The writing style is a bit flowery, but the pacing is good. From the first few pages to the last sentence, I was in suspense, wondering exactly how the story would end. We follow Zack Reeves, a seasoned ski instructor and nostalgic purist as he coaches Aris Godrick, a college dropout and firebrand visionary for human progress. Reeves is set in his monastic ways and convinced he has nothing more to gain in life. Godrick has a dark secret, and believes he has nothing to lose. As the two larger-than-life characters train their way across the fictional Seraphs mountain range’s increasingly challenging slopes, one wonders which man has more to learn from the other, and if they will overcome their inhibitions to realize a more flourishing existence, or die not trying.
