Review

This is a book about an honest man encountering the harshness of life and surviving. The story didn’t make me feel good, but it was honest to life in a brutal way, and very well-written. I believe the theme is spoken by an old man near the end: ‘It is merciful that the young do not know the nature of the world when they start into it, because if they did know, they might not want to start.’
